The materials we choose to live with matter….a lot
To me, there is nothing more sacred than our homes. The place where we join with our loved ones, gather around tables, break bread, nourish ourselves, create memories, find safety, express, and find rest. There was a time when spaces were designed with the intention of healing. The geometries, the materials, the lighting, the acoustics, the colors - it all had a purpose. People went into certain healing places to raise their vibration, to commune with the holy. When our bodies experience resonance, our cells can heal!
All of these sacred elements are found in nature so when we bring nature into our home, we can experience wellness on a very deep level. These days, building materials are incredibly toxic - voc’s, isocyanates, formaldehyde, phthalates, heavy metals, flame retardants, biocides and fungicides, the list goes on. The walls we live within are literally making people unwell.
There is another way. There are materials that breathe, that clean our air, that are naturally mold resistant and flame resistant, that contribute to our health and well-being. These natural and clean materials also bring a very particular feel and aesthetic into the house - they bring a sense of calm, they bring soul and depth, a richness, an elemental feel and a storied space. No one can deny that nature IS beauty, so when we bring real wood and stone and minerals and raw metals and natural textiles, we are gonna bring some real beauty.
